Cremas’ signature flavor, Dulce de Leche, is a confection prepared by slowly heating sweetened milk to create a substance that derives its taste from the Maillard reaction, changing flavour and colour. Its origin is a highly debated topic among most Latin American countries. It goes by different names in certain countries, for example, in Colombia it is known as Arequipe, in Nicaragua as Bollo de Leche, in Mexico as Cajeta, in Chile and Ecuador as Manjar, in Cuba as Fanguito, in Bolivia, Panamá and Perú as Manjar Blanco, in France as Confiture de lait, and in Brazil and Portugal as Doce de leite.
